Supply Chain Optimization

Global trade is a hot topic - and rightly so. I'm well-versed in all aspects of customs duties and can help you review your current setup. Changing the country of export is not always a shell game - if real value is added or processing occurs, it could legitimately change the origin. Also, you are perfectly allowed to change incoterms as long as they are in line with legal arrangements - besides customs duties this also benefits VAT or other import consumption taxes becoming a direct cost. HTS codes are not binary either. It's also worth taking a closer look at your import taxes and supply chain overall. Unlike customs duties, these are recoverable - provided you meet the right conditions. But in practice, this is often missed which might explain some of Trump's more creative trade deficit math.

Tax Health Check

Indirect taxes, by their very nature, are dynamic and complex. Due to their transactional nature and intricate place-of-taxation rules, achieving full compliance is no small feat. The risks? Missed recovery opportunities on one end, and unmet reporting obligations on the other. Since indirect tax is percentage-based on turnover, even small errors - if left unchecked - can lead to significant financial exposure . I've spent many years deep in the 'boiler room', identifying and correcting these issues where they originate. From missed reclaim opportunities to system flaws that lead to incorrect filings, I know where to look, what questions to ask, and how to fix it - before small problems turn into major costs.

Tax Technology Support

Tax authorities are stepping up their game with increasing transparency measures: e-invoicing, SAF-T, and real-time reporting, to name a few. For once, fighting fire with fire is the right approach. To stay ahead, you need control over your tax codes and transactions before the authorities do - and that means having technology work for you, not against you. But with a flood of solutions on the market, there's no one-size-fits-all answer. I help businesses cut through the noise, find the right fit for their needs, and make sure the investment delivers real, lasting value. If you're still in the early stages, I'd be happy to help you shape the business case for why tax deserves the investment.

Tax Hotline

Sometimes, you just want to spar with someone, to sense-check an issue, explore a potential risk, or bounce around ideas. Or perhaps you're a successful local business expanding into foreign markets, seeking clear advice on tax implications - but concerned about the costs involved due to the number of countries. That's where the subscription-based hotline comes in. For a fixed monthly fee, you get direct access to an experienced indirect tax expert - no ticking consultancy clocks, no endless paperwork or approval chains, just straight answers when you need them.

My background

I bring over 20 years of international tax experience, with a decade spent living and working abroad, tackling complex tax challenges all over the globe. I am accustomed to leading large-scale tax projects and teams, involving multiple stakeholders internally and externally, helping companies building the digital tax function of the future, and last but not least, optimizing companies' tax position and driving results whilst reducing risk.

I've led the tax function at a global company dedicated to helping businesses expand internationally - and indirect tax was always high on the agenda, and served as a Big Four Partner, heading up all tax technology initiatives. Having worked in-house twice during my career, I understand the value of practical, actionable advice that works in the real world - not just on paper.
